About

Matt Mendoza

Matt Mendoza has devoted his entire legal career to helping those who have been seriously injured by the carelessness and negligence of others and faceless corporations.

Matt is a native Houstonian, born and raised, and received his primary education from St. Thomas Catholic High School.

At just 20 years old, Matt began his legal career with the Martin Law Firm, all while attaining his bachelor’s degree with a double major (Political Science and Liberal Studies) from the University of Houston (Go ‘Coogs). He minored in National Security Studies and Values, Law, & Policy (ethics/philosophy). Matt’s rigorous work ethic and dedication to learning allowed him to work full time, and graduate in three years.

While at the University of Houston, he served as the Vice President for Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Society, and was a member of Pi Sigma Alpha Rho Zeta Political Science Honor Society, Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. He also started his commitment to community service, in assisting in translating English to Spanish for the attorneys at the Houston Volunteer Lawyer Program when they met the public to provide pro bono legal counsel.

While continuing his work with the Martin Law Firm, Matt attended and received his law degree (Juris Doctorate) from South Texas College of Law’s part-time evening program – a program that usually takes four years to complete, but Matt completed in just three years.

As a licensed Texas attorney, Matt honed and sharpened his legal skills as a litigation attorney at various boutique personal injury firms around the Houston area.

Matt’s legal experience includes directing and litigating complex class action matters against negligent pharmaceutical companies and refineries, with hundreds of injured clients and numerous defendants. Matt’s skills truly flourish when finding justice for clients suffering from 18-wheeler injuries, dram shop claims, drunk driving injuries, motor vehicle injuries, premises liability injuries, dog bite injuries, catastrophic injury, and wrongful death claims.

Matt proudly serves every single one of his clients with the conviction and courage that is required to fight tirelessly against the limitless resources of the insurance industry.

One of Matt’s most impressive achievements is being granted Lifetime Member status of the Million Dollar and Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum before reaching the age of 30.

Notable case results

$2,000,000.00

Matt won a settlement for the family of a loving husband and father who was overserved alcohol at a bar. Matt filed a temporary restraining order against the bar and received video footage showing employees serving the deceased client a negligently excessive amount of alcohol over the period of several hours, which was in violation of Texas law.

$1,065,000.00

Matt captured a settlement in excess of the insurance company’s policy limits for an elderly woman who was tragically run over by a negligent 18-wheeler diver while she was legally crossing the street in a crosswalk. Due to Matt’s quick action with a temporary restraining order and investigation, the incident was caught on a nearby surveillance video camera, which assisted in securing compensation for Matt’s client.

No matter how daunting the fight from the insurance company, Matt lives by the following motto from Nicholas Cage in the The Rock – I love pressure. I eat it for breakfast. In his free time, Matt enjoys spending time with his wife, baking, watching movies, and reading high fantasy novels.
